Another recorded interview this week and the lady I am meeting is nearly 90 years old and bubbling over with stories. We sit together and do the recorded interview, she shares all kinds of stories and at the end I hand over the headphones so she can listen back to herself. To spend time with someone and for them to share their stories is like being given a gift. As I watch this lovely lady listen back to her recording and see her face at first serious, then slowly, slowly beginning to smile before finally properly laughing to herself at the humour in her tales, I am reminded what a privilege this job is, what a treat to be gathering and recording so many memories and stories and how generous people are to share.
